Hi all!
I heard today that microsoft is coming out with voice reconition with the Xbox360. It seems really cool supposedly you'll be able to control the game with your voice!
I don't play video games, however if I had this and could somehow test before committing to buy I'd try it out! Even though I wouldn't be able to see the screen, I can listen to stuff and I just think it would be really interesting.
What do you all think?
Hmm. I heard the Japanese version of the NES had limited voice control features. I wonder how this will turn out now that they've been able to advance more. I would definitely like to try it.
Yeah sounds pretty cool and I would like to try it too.
Yeah, awesome! Hopefully it's not to pricy and like I said I'd love to test it out!
It sounds cool, but I can see several draw backs. First, as anyone who has tried to use voice recognition on a cell phone will tell you, it doesn't always pick up on what you actually said, just on what it thought you said; thus, you could end up screwing up your game. Next, what if someone in the kitchen or somewhere drops a pan of noodles on their foot and shouts, "Oh dear mother of dropped pasta!" suddenly, your character is doing backflips down a cliff, right before you reached the great blue chrystal that you'd been trying to reach for two weeks now. Lastly, how can you have a conversation while playing? I mean, I play video games, and a lot of times I'll be having a conversation while I'm playing, you can't do that. You could turn to your friend and say, "How about you go help that person clean up the noodles", and suddenly your character is getting gang banged by the evil monkeys you'd been mowing down with a tommy gun just a few seconds before. If you'd used a controller, the most you'd have to worry about is a floor full of noodles.
Yeah. I didn't think of that, but good point. I still think it's a cool idea, but it couldn't replace the controller completely.
Lol to Post 5: Could completely see that happening.
The kinect voice controll for the 360 isn't really used in games. Its used for menues, and surtain applications.
like you can say "XBox Music" or XBox, next"and such.
Honestly though, for practicality reasons, gaming with your voice would probably be a tedious process.
As anyonewho plays manestream games will tell you, they're alot more fast paced and complex than your standard "blind games." though who knows, we might see it in some games, if for no other reason than to help navigate the menues.
Lol haha at post 5 lol!!!
I can totally see everyone's point;I don't have any vision so I don't think i can play video games..i've tried and it's pretty hard to do..and that was with someone telling me how to handle the controler and everything..
There are games you can play if you want to. You just have to find the right ones.
I play the Street fighter series all the time, and love it. and yes, I've actually beat the game before. hahaha. almost every fighting game is playable for those with no vision, though. I'm sure there are others, too. I'm just a fighting game fan myself, so I usually stick with those.
I play the bowling game and a couple others on the wii. The wii is nice because even though the controller is interactive, with a lot of the games you mainly just need sighted help navigating menus. With bowling for example, you use the controller like it's a ball and just act like you're going to bowl. It's the same with sword fighting and numbchucks lol. And a bunch of other games that are pretty interactive. The other systems I have had a little bit of trouble with because they are not interactive and most of the games have changed greatly from the way they used to be years ago when we could play games like killer instinct and mortal kombat. Mortal kombat you can still play... Mostly. I heard of a blind person who said they could play call of duty on the XBox if he wore a surround sound pair of headphones.
this sounds great.
i'd be interested to see how it turns out
